2002 Oregon YHEC State Championship (updated 6-24-02)

This year's YHEC State Championship was a great success! 

GOOD JOB YHEC KIDS and VOLUNTEERS!!

The Oregon 2002 Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) competition was held Saturday-Sunday 22-23 June, at the La Grande Rifle & Pistol Club Range, in La Grande, Oregon. 

Competitors from the all over the State showed up, to compete in the 8 scheduled events.

FAST FACTS for the YHEC Oregon State 2002

There were a total of 32 kids competing (14 Seniors and 18 Juniors).
The youngest participant was Markus Swiger - age 10.
The weather was great.
Our hosts at the La Grande Rifle & Pistol Club Range were just splendid (a particular thanks goes to Dick Hohstadt.
There were more than 40 volunteers that worked long hours to make this event a great success.
The food was great  and the events were... more or less on schedule.
There were 6 girls competing (4 senior, 2 junior).
"Yhec" the official mascott of the whole program (a handsome yellow lab who rules the Morrissey family) was at hand (click here for its photo).
