2002 YHEC INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION, July 21 - 26 Mansfield, PA

The 2002 International Youth Hunter Education Challenge was held during the third week of July in Mansfield, PA.

	Oregon YHEC sent a Senior Team (Austin McKnight, Bryon Morrissey, Justin Gehlhaar, Cristi Brackin and Josh Terry).
	Oregon YHEC sent a Junior Team (Marco Valerio, Ted Shaver, Russel Griffith, Jake Smith and Danielle Dady).
	2 individual participants were Lacey Jensen (Sr.) and Nini Valerio (Jr.).
	There were a total of 269 participants.
	There were 148 Seniors and 24 Senior Teams.

HONORARY MENTION - SENIOR

	Bryon Morrisey was the HIGH Scorer for the Senior Team with 1515 points, and 26th overall placing.
	Austin McKinght placed 29th in the overall with 1511.
	Hunter Responsibility Exam - Austin McKinght 3rd place, Bryon Morrissey was 16th. The Oregon Team placed 4th overall in this event.
	Wildlife ID - Josh Terry was 11th and Cristi Brackin placed 31st.
	Archery - Austin McKinght placed 12th and Bryon Morrissey 13th in Archery.
	Muzzleloader -Justin Gehlhaar placed 5th with a perfect 300, and Lacey Jensen 15th with a 275.
	. 22 Rifle - Bryon Morrissey placed 12th, Cristi Brackin 21st, Austin McKinght 22nd, Lacey Jensen 30th and Justin Gehlhaar 34th.
	Shotgun - Josh Terry placed 11th and Austin McKinght 24th.

HONORARY MENTION - JUNIOR

	Russel Griffith was the HIGH Scorer for the Junior Team with 1437 points, and 10th overall.
	Marco Valerio placed 14th in the overall with 1406 points, Ted Shaver 25th and Jake Smith 36th.
	Hunter Responsibility Exam - Russel Griffith placed 18th and Marco Valerio 31st. The Junior Team tied for 4th but lost the tie-breaker and placed 6th in this event.
	Hunter Safety Trail - Russel Griffith placed 24th.
	Orienteering - Jake Smith placed 16th, followed closely by Ted Shaver 17th, Marco Valerio 19th, Russel Griffith 22nd, Nini Valerio 30th.
	Wildlife ID - Marco Valerio placed 2nd, Russel Griffith 16th and Jake Smith 25th.
	Archery - Jake Smith placed 18th and Marco Valerio 33rd.
	Muzzleloader - Russel Griffith placed 5th and Ted Shaver 8th, both with a 275 score. Marco Valerio 16th and Jake Smith 22nd.
	. 22 Rifle - Russel Griffith placed 19th and Ted Shaver 22nd.
	Shotgun - Marco Valerio placed 25th.
