Austin & Halleck Unveils Black Powder Shotgun
Turkey hunters, waterfowlers and upland bird hunters who want to add
more challenge and a bit of hunting heritage to their time afield, will
enjoy the new Model 520 Austin & Halleck
12 gauge muzzleloading shotgun
about to be introduced through
dealers nationwide.
Austin & Halleck craftsmen who make in-line, percussion and flintlock
rifles known for their reliable accuracy and fancy curly maple stocks
have been working on the company's new shotgun worthy of the A&H
brand.
It features the same precision-machined Bold brand trigger, fancy curly
maple stock, smooth bolt action and choices of three ignition systems,
including hot, reliable 209 primers. A beautiful vented rib barrel with
stainless steel Carlson brand screw-in choke features an easy to see
Marble brand front bead.
"I used the Austin & Halleck Model 520 to shoot a nice
gobbler in Iowa with outfitter Judd Cooney," reported Mark LaBarbera
of the Outdoor Heritage Education Center and past president of the Outdoor
Writers Assoc. of America. "The heritage associated with black
powder guns adds nostalgia, fun and a little extra challenge to an outdoor
adventure," he said.
Field testing the handsome new firearm, Austin & Halleck Vice President
Doug Evans shot upland birds and a big Eastern wild turkey with the
Model 520 before unveiling the company's premiere shotgun this summer
in a sneak preview to outdoor writers at their recent national convention
in Madison, Wisconsin. "It comes up easily and swings smoothly
on upland birds," he said, adding, "and it packs a punch with
heavy loads for boss gobblers."
