One of the most impressive companies that I saw exhibited at the 2008 Outdoor Retail Show was PROFORCE EQUIPMENT.

PROFORCE specializes in the distribution of military and outdoor equipment, known as Snugpak.

Snugpak is the last company producing low pack size performance synthetic fill sleeping bags in the United Kingdom and one of the few left producing insulated cold weather clothing in Europe.

For Guides and Outfitters who are looking for unbeatable quality in products that are light weight and functional, this is the product line for you.

Their sleeping bags offer a good variety of designs and comfort ranges and when they’re compressed in a stuff sack can literally be held in the palm of your hand.

Specs on the Sleeper Lite bag are as follows:
w Temp:  Comfort 18° to 32° Low
w Weight:  64 oz
w Length:  86 in
w Chest:  60 in
w Pack Size:  10 in X 10 in

That’s not a misprint on the pack size 10” X 10” inches.
Pretty impressive when you’re heading off on a long-range adventure where space is going to be at a premium.

The fill is something called ‘siliconised hollowfibre’.  These synthetic fibers are structured to trap warm air between tiny cavities in the fiber.  When unpacked the hollow fibers decompress and spread back to gain maximum re-loft.

We’ll be publishing some field reports on these bags in the days ahead but for now you can go to www.backpackgeartest.com
