The first successful introduction
of pheasants into the United States is attributed to the consul
general at Shanghai, China, one O.N. Denny. In 1880-81 he was
able to get about two dozen of the native ring-neck pheasants
into this country, equally divided between cocks and hens, and
they were released in the Willamette Valley, in Oregon. Later
they were introduced in Montana in 1895, in Washington about 1883,
and in South Dakota in 1898.

Parr is a word used to define young age of
a salmon (before that they are called fry). Parr usually have
8-11 dark bars on the side with a red spot between each one. When
Salmon parr begin to migrate to the sea, usually in March, April
and May, they gradually become more elongated and the fins darken.
The body becomes more silvery in colour and obscuring the spots
and finger-marks, except on the gill-covers. They then become
Smolts.
