A17.1 is the code book for the elevator industry. Within these codes, section 513 refers to residential inclined elevators for outdoor use. The Hill Hiker is designed to carry from 600-1000 pounds capacity depending on the particular needs of the customer, special car configurations aid in the physically challenged individuals ability to have greater independence in their lives through greater accessibility.

The Hill Hiker is a cable driven elevator system with 3 power packs available. The winding drum design, the counterbalance design, and the continuous loop traction drive design all lend themselves well to the particular application they were intended for. Each application depends on the length of the travel, angle of incline, and capacities required.
