Dan's EZ Hone offers a new and simple approach to mastering the art of knife sharpening. It is so simple that even a novice sharpener can achieve a keen, sharp edge. Dan's Whetstone Company produces a complete line of Pocket Stones, each with a leather pouch for clean storage and protection of the stone, including genuine black Arkansas novaculite, don't be fooled by the rumor that "Black Arkansas Novaculite is no longer available!"

Pocket Stones are perfect for on the spot touch-ups. These stones come with a leather sleeve to protect and store the sharpening stone or you can purchase the stone in a plastic tube. Pocket stones are available in Soft, Hard Select, True Hard, Black Hard and Translucent grades and classifications.

Bench Stones
Probably the most common whetstone shape known to users universally. Used for sharpening a variety of knives and cutting tools. We produce standard 2" and 3" wide stones in a variety of lengths to satisfy most consumer needs. Bench stones are also available in the genuine Black Arkansas Novaculite.

Arkansas Files and Carving Tools

Dan's Whetstone Company produces special shaped files that are designed to meet the customer's specific sharpening needs. File shapes include triangle, square, round, flat, bevel, oval, diamond, base point, and knife blade. We also produce round edged slip stones and carving tools to complete our line and make sure that you can have a stone that will allow you to maintain keen edges on all of your tools.

All special shaped files are available in Hard, True Hard, and Translucent classifications.

Arkansas Stone Grades 101
Natural Arkansas Whetstones are available in various grades and classifications. Users should be aware that color is not the determining factor in grading Novaculite. Some users have been defining whetstone grades by color, but the same colors may be seen in more than one grade and classification. Different grades of Novaculite also have a noticeable difference in texture. The softer the stone, the coarser the surface of the stone feels; harder stones, such as the True Hard and Translucent, have a smoother glassy feel.
