The combination of our unique material, and revolutionary design makes Hog Island drift
boats handle exceptionally well. We have molded a very soft chine that is very adept at
negotiating cross currents, thus enabling the boat to drift true and not hook. The term we
like to use is our boats "slide" in the river. Rowing a Hog Island model LTD. 6 drift boat
in converging downstream and upstream currents while maneuvering in and out of
eddies is a pleasure.

Molded in Lie Detector: we have molded in a 36" ruler on the rear of the front deck to accurately measure the length of fish caught

Features and Benefits

In the news:

Hog Island Boat Works is a small company that began in 2001 with the mission of designing and building the world 1st roto-molded drift boat. Without the help of total strangers that are now like family, and a ton of luck we would have slipped into obscurity some time ago. The people that work with Hog Island are river people. They are passionate about their time on the water, and are focused on making their time the most enjoyable. It's on river trips that the best ideas are born.

Three years of engineering in the Hog Island laboratory and extreme field testing has created the World's first and only Roto-Molded drift boat. We precision mold our boats with high density plastic, backed by a rigid plastic foam that keeps our boats stiff and naturally quiet. Click for more photos to see a cross section of our chine and side wall.Hog Island plastic acts as an acoustic dampener on the water: (we bet you'll spook less fish in our boat). Our roto-molded hulls move on the water, and off of river obstacles with less friction and less work than other boat materials. One float and you'll be able to feel and hear the difference.
